How you are related to a snail... a very interesting connection!

Dear Wikiwatchers,

I have discovered something AMAZING in The Allen Centre...

A very mysterious connection!

Snails hold a secret code, hidden in their spirals.

You only have to be able to count to 5 to discover it yourselves.

Can you spot the pattern....? Make the pattern longer?

Start with zero...

P1260731.JPG

Add 1

P1260732.JPG

0+1 = 1

P1260734.JPG

1+1 = 2

P1260735.JPG

1+2 = 3

P1260736.JPG

2+3 = 5

Now, let's use squares instead of numbers....

P1260739.JPG

Start with zero... no squares

P1260738.JPG

Add a 1unit square

P1260740.JPG

0+1 = 1.

Add a 1 unit square.

P1260741.JPG

1 +1 = 2

Add the 2 unit square

P1260742.JPG

1+2 = 3

Add the 3 unit square

P1260743.JPG

2+3 = 5

Add the 5 unit square

Now, watch some magic...

P1260745.JPG

Place the green line across the opposite

corners in each square.... a spiral!

....It matches!

Hmmm... does it really? Let's check....

P1260755.JPG

The 3 points of my spiral measuring guage match

the edges of this spiral...

P1260729.JPG

.... Look! they match this one too...

P1260759.JPG

....and my hand!

P1260758.JPG

...and my arm!

I am the same pattern as a snail!!!

If my guage was big enough (or small enough) I would find the same pattern all over my body - even inside my lungs!

Patterns like this are everywhere in nature... just look for spirals in pinecones, in sunflowers...

... in books...

I wonder...

Who discovered the number code....?

Visit The Allen Centre and discover if you are the same pattern as your friend, a butterfly ...

...and even Mrs Wright!
